Greece had always been in direct contact with Sonic Youth, the free spirited alternative rock punk band which has been ebrassed by Millennial generation and its DIY culture.
Lee Ranaldo started Sonic Youth with Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon in the 80s and after the band went on hiatus in 2011, he has been releasing his solo projects collaborating with several musicians.
Yiannis and Mike form Shoot The Band crew had spotted the revamped Arcade of Merchants in Athens for the shooting sequence of Stray Song Series.
This hidden scenery inside an arcade in the old aristocratic commercial zone of Athens full of retro billboards, was vaguely reminiscent of an out-of-date version of NY, fitting perfectly onto Lee Ranaldo’s mature figure in chic autumn coat and hat.
Ranaldo performed “Angles” and some few passers-by, luckily found their way on this single-take analog recording.
